10 Day (9 nights) Malta Experience
Arrive in Malta’s International Airport and be met by our chauffeured driver who will safely bring you to Julesy’s BnB. Meet with your hosts, Julie & Glen who will give you a tour of their historic property and then settle into your room.
Day 2: Round Malta Cruise – Full Day
Your journey starts with a spectacular full day excursion that cruises all around Malta. Enjoy unique scenery together with the amazing blue sea that surrounds our unique island. This tour will take you along popular landmarks all along the Maltese coastline where you will admire places such as the Capital City of Valletta and the Grand Harbour entrance. We will then make your way down to the pretty bays of Marsascala and St. Thomas and sail past Delimara point. After sailing past the Blue Grotto and the imposing Dingli Cliffs you will sail to Anchor Bay, which is the actual location where the film Popeye was filmed.
One of the highlights of the wonderful day out is the crystal clear waters of the famous Blue Lagoon in the island of Comino. A delicious buffet lunch with wine will also be included, after which the afternoon is enjoyed swimming and sunbathing before we make our way back to Sliema. Return transfers from Julesy’s BnB are also included.
Dinner will be served Osteria VE, a fantastic local restaurant that serves northern Italian cuisine, and will consist of three courses with wine included.
Day 3: Discover Gozo – Full Day
While enjoying your lovely holiday in Malta, you cannot miss this fantastic full day excursion to Gozo, which is only a twenty minute ferry crossing away. As soon as you set foot in the pretty Gozitan port of Mgarr, you will notice that although both islands are similar in history and development, Gozo has a character entirely of its own. You can see that Gozo boasts of more greenery than Malta with its hilly landscape and picturesque countryside, making it an island full of charm waiting to be discovered. In this excursion you will visit all the popular landmarks of Gozo such as the Citadel in Victoria, the famous Azur Window in Dwejra and the rocky cliffs in Xlendi Bay.
Also included is a delicious three-course lunch together with a spectacular cultural experience with a visit to Ggantijja Temples (except on Monday), which are known to be the oldest freestanding temples in the world. Since Gozo is well known for its woolen goods and handmade lace, honey and cheese we will also visit the market where we will have free time for shopping and to sample all these at first hand. Return transfers from Julesy’s BnB are also included.
Day 4: Temples and Local Lifestyle – Full Day
On the 4th day, you can enjoy a wonderful full day excursion, which will allow you to learn what a typical day would be like for the Maltese people in the south of the island and explore a few of the remaining unspoilt villages through their winding roads and alleys which will lead you to a typical Maltese piazza where progress did not leave its mark. Your first stop brings together old and new with a visit to a modernised quarry, the Limestone Heritage that explains farmhouse building, stone decoration and quarrying which is one of the foremost trades in Malta.
Next you will visit the village of Qrendi where you will discover the elaborated temples of Hagar Qim which is Malta’s most prominent historical sight and from where we can enjoy breathtaking views of the mesmerising sea and the islet of Filfla. We proceed to Wied iz Zurrieq and down to the famous Blue Grotto and if weather permits, we are given the opportunity to take a boat ride (boat fee not included) around the various caves surrounding the area. After a lovely lunch you are taken to the pretty fishing village of Marsaxlokk whose waterfront is lined with Luzzus all painted in traditional colours that make this bay so unique and where time is given to browse through the open-air market held daily in this serene little village.
Your excursion will end with a visit to Ghar Dalam, the cave of obscurity, which was the dwelling of the first inhabitants of the Maltese Islands. Return transfers from Julesy’s BnB are also included.
Dinner will be served at at Tal Petut, an outstanding restaurant experience, specialising in local dishes with a twist. There you can enjoy continuous food at the chefs discretion, matched with elegant wine.
Day 5: Gastronomic Discovery in Julesy’s Kitchen – Full Day
This day is centred around a full day Gastronomic Discovery which includes an excursion, cooking class, and a to-die-for meal that you will prepare with your new friends, and later enjoy together in Julesy’s BnB dining room or roof terrace.
Starting at 11am and finishing well after sunset, this full day will incorporate an excursion to local markets, fishing villages and tour of Marsovin Wine Cellar located in Marsa. After the tour, you will return to the kitchen to start your cooking lesson. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves for a hands-on cooking experience. All menus are entirely cooked from scratch and based on authentic Maltese and Mediterranean recipes.
The course includes:
- A half day culinary excursion visiting some the islands wonderful producers
- Maltese wine tasting experience
- Hands-on (3-4 hour) cooking class
- All food, fine wines and other beverages are included; a complimentary apron & recipes
Day 6: Open Top Sightseeing Bus Tour – Full Day
Discover Malta with the City Sightseeing Hop On & Hop Off Bus Tour. The South route drives to Valletta passing through the Sliema and Ta Xbiex promenades. Whilst driving along the panoramic Valletta outskirts we pass the Auberge De Castille, the War Museum, Fort St Angelo and the Valletta waterfront before making our way to Tarxien. Next we go to the Three Cities followed by Zejtun, Marsaxlokk, Ghaxaq and the famed Blue Grotto. The last part of our route is reserved for Hagar Qim & Mnajdra and the Limestone Heritage before driving back through more captivating towns and villages in Malta.
You will return back to Julesy’s BnB to freshen up and then head off to your night’s entertainment. “The Story of an Island”, with dinner and wine included. As the lights are dimmed, you will travel back in time, and meet the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and the Normans who shaped up the islands’ future. Aided by hi-powered projections you won’t fail to notice the arrival of the Knights of Saint John, the bright Village Festas, Carnival and traditional Maltese feasts. You will witness the incredible journey of the Maltese, the determination of a whole nation during the Great Siege, the French Blockade and Second World War.
Day 7: Day Trip to Sicily – Full Day
You will enjoy a full day excursion to get a taste of Sicily while enjoying your holiday in Malta. After a short 90-minute crossing in comfort and style via catamaran, you arrive in Pozzallo where on arrival you can feel the charm and beauty of this wonderful island. Your luxury coach drives you through the busy streets of Catania all the way up to Mount Etna and its Sylvester Craters.
There you can enjoy the spectacular and overwhelming views together with an opportunity to purchase souvenirs and where you will have free time for lunch. Your next stop would be in Taormina (October to April – You visit Modica and not Taormina) where you will find that this ever-popular pretty town has commanding views overlooking Giardini Naxos that is a sight not to be missed. On this excursion guests are reminded to bring along Passports. Return transfers from Julesy’s BnB are also included.
Day 8: Mdina Highlights – Full Day
Today`s excursion takes you to the central part of Malta that is dominated by the ancient citadel of Mdina, once the Island`s capital city and steeped in history. Join us as we navigate through the narrow streets and mysterious alleyways of Mdina, also known as the `silent city`, that leads you to the awe-inspiring bastions from which you can take in an almost 360 degree panoramic view of the island. You leave Mdina through the Greek Gate and proceed to the catacombs followed by a drive to the south west of the island to Dingli cliffs, which offer us breathtaking views of the open sea, and the tiny island of Filfla.
After a lovely lunch you then move on to the botanic gardens of San Anton, home to some of the island`s rarest plants and trees and now home of the President of the Republic. Next you will visit Mosta and its impressive dome, one of the largest standing unsupported domes in Europe. Your last stop will be to the crafts center at Ta` Qali where you can see glass blowing, pottery and filigree all at first hand and where we have ample time for shopping for souvenirs. Dinner will be served at Cafe Rouge, where you can enjoy sublime Mediterranean fusion dishes, along with superb wine from their vast wine list.
Day 9: Comino and the Blue Lagoon – Full Day
See the magical Blue Lagoon and enjoy the crystal clear waters in a wonderful day out at sea. You start off towards the north of Malta where this excursion will take you past landmarks such as the bays of St Julian’s, St Andrews and St Paul’s where you can see the islands where the shipwreck of St Paul took place in 60A.D.
A cold buffet lunch with wine is served on board and the rest of the afternoon is spent swimming, sunbathing or exploring the sandy beach ashore this unique island. A truly relaxing excursion for all ages in which all guests can experience Malta’s treasured sea in one memorable day. Return transfers from Julesy’s BnB are also included.
Dinner will be served at the acclaimed Cargo restaurant on the waterfront, and will include three courses with wine.
After breakfast, you will check out of your room and depart Julesy’s BnB via our chauffeured driver service, directly to Malta’s International Airport, to make your way back home or continue your travels.
